Galya Zinko – The Snow Queen

It is a great pleasure to discover the young and talented artist Galya Zinko.

She comes from Ukraine and unfortunately besides her account at vk.com, she doesn’t have any other social profile or web site to be able to introduce her properly.

But the most important are her works and on the aforementioned site she keeps downloading her fabulous illustrations.

I choose the classic tale ‘The Snow Queen’ by Hans Christian Andersen as one of my favourite tales in order to present her, but her Thumbelina, Sleeping Beauty, Red Riding Hood, the Little Mermaid, and so many others are equally beautiful in every way. And yes, she is so young, and has already illustrated a dozen of books (all published in Russian).

I have the impression that her fantasy flies in vibrations where surreal, magical, decorative and animated combines in a perfect match. And as a real artist, she transforms them through her vision into a personal innovative style that resembles herself (I can’t even imagine what a masterpiece will be her interpretation of  ‘Alice in Wonderland’).

There is no need to say anything more. Go and check yourselves.

And this is a great video presentation of the book!

Quentin Gréban – The nightingale and the Emperor by Hans Christian Andersen

Quentin Gréban is a very talented writer and  illustrator. He was born in 1977 in Belgium where he still lives with his family. Since 1999 the artist has published more than 25 children’s books translated in many languages (16 written and illustrated by himself) . It is difficult to say which one is his best since they all are such magnificent works of art, but for me his gentle, delicate and lovely illustrations of the Hans Christian Andersen’s story ‘The nightingale and the Emperor” stand out above the rest.
